But I know some other states combine boys and girls (doubling the number for single sex schools) And some states count grades 9-12. In November of odd number the number of boys in 9th, 10th, 11th grades are reported, then used for classification for the next two years, even year August to the next even year June.I think I saw on here that at least one other state does the same thing. Pennsylvania calculates boys and girls sports separately.

The indiana state coaches association however created a in-season dual state tournament which is comprised of 3 classes equally divided.
